MULTI STAIN

WATER BASED CONCRETE STAINING SOLUTION

DESCRIPTION

MULTI STAIN is a water based chemical stain for concrete surfaces. The chemicals react with the alkali still present in the concrete hereby changing the colour of the concrete on contact. The age of the concrete will determine the reactivity and effect of the colour strain, giving each concrete surface its own unique signature stain.

  • Patched concrete may stain differently to existing older concrete.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surfaces to be clean, sound and free of deleterious substances. Remove all laitance, oil, grease, loose paints, mould oil or curing compound from concrete surfaces using wire brush, bush hammer, scabbler or other plant as appropriate. Expose any holes and dips and repair. Patch with MULTI MORTAR REPAIR if required. Friable screeds will have to be removed or re-screeded as necessary. Previously coated surfaces will need to be removed to expose the concrete substrate below.

PRIMING

No priming is required. If the surface is very porous, dampen down with water to control draw in of MULTI STAIN and apply MULTI STAIN while surface is still damp but not wet.

APPLICATION

Using a PVA roller, roll on a liberal coat of MULTI STAIN over the surface of the concrete. The more unevenly the MULTI STAIN is applied, the more variance in colour shading is achieved. Allow to draw into the concrete surface but do allow pooling of the MULTI STAIN. Leave for 2 hours and if a deeper colour is required, apply a second coat in the same manner as the first. Allow 8 hours before LIGHTLY sanding off any efflorescence on the concrete surface as a result of the staining reaction using 100-grit sandpaper. Be careful not to remove surface-stained concrete and re-expose concrete below. Remove any dust and colour retain the surface with MULTI COLOUR RETAINER and allow to dry for 2-4 hours. Then seal with MULTI UV SEALER (solvent based) or MULTI PU SEALER (water based). After 4 hours, a second coat of MULTI UV SEALER can be applied.
